The chances are, you don’t need 100,00 UPCs, not yet anyway. But you will. At some point as your product business grows., so will your need for UPC codes that specifically identify your products in the global marketplace—and especially within the world’s largest marketplaces, like Amazon, Walmart, and others.
If you buy your UPC codes from one of the many scammy 3rd-party sellers advertising all over Google, you run the risk of major marketplaces, like Amazon, Walmart, and other major retailers, rejecting your UPC code for not being authentically issued by GS1 to your company.
I purchased my company’s UPC Prefix back in the 1990’s and used it briefly for a few dozen products that no longer exist. None of these codes have ever been used in Amazon or Walmart. The whole Prefix is otherwise pristine, meaning utterly unused.
I no longer sell products and have no plans for ever doing so again. As such, you have the opportunity to buy mine and own forever your own genuine GS1-issued UPC Prefix of a 100,000 UPCs that you buy once and never have to pay for again.
Buying a UPC Prefix for 100,000 products direct from GS1 will cost you just over $12,000, and then $2,100 each year there after.
Because of the lawsuit UCC (now GS1) lost back in 2002, all UPC codes purchased prior to this date are “owned” by the people and companies who bought them and never need to “renewed” via subscription.
My UPC Prefix is wholly owned by me and never needs to be renewed. Ever.
In 10 years, an GS1 Prefix of 100,000 UPCs will cost you over $30,000.
I’m selling mine for a one-time fee of $15,000.
